Masooma Ranalvi

Masooma Ranalvi is the founder of We Speak Out, an organization dedicated to helping women escape or heal from female genital mutilation. She was cut at the age of seven in her village in India. Ranalvi created an online petition to stop female genital mutilation in her community that received over one hundred thousand signatures.

She has inspired women and young girls across India to openly speak about their experiences and to actively engage in a campaign against the practice.

For men, the circumcision is done for health and hygiene, while for women, it is meant to curb sexual desire and tame them.
